Trauma Wise has been designed with the aim of educating and training staff/community members/congregants and volunteers working the field of Trauma Support to be able to assist in a crisis situation and provide essential information so as to minimize the effect of traumatic stress on an individual following a traumatic incident.

Due to the high levels of crime in South Africa, many South Africans are exposed to violence and potentially traumatizing events. Whilst Government and big business is working hard towards eradicating crime, it is usually the victims that are often forgotten.

Within the South African environment it is not usually acknowledged how these events can affect the person involved and the indirect victims such as friends, family and colleagues. Sometimes the change is subtle or not noticed until it is too late. The value of knowing oneself and ones response to trauma can greatly aid in good mental and emotional health.
